Fair Winds and following seas
I believe this is the most important election of my lifetime, I've already voted 'absentee' as I'm working in Tallahassee Florida now and only home in Charleston on weekends. Our very survival hangs in the balance in this election... I pray the American people do the right thing.
Job is going well, the commute is just over 6 hours and it pretty much sucks, at least the hurricanes have ceased and hopefully no more will hit Florida this year.
Ron has an opportunity for a really great job, that starts in January... I do hope it works out for him, he is so unhappy at his current job... he loves the work, but can't stand the management.
I guess I'm not a very good journal writer... I don't have a lot of free time for it now.
Capt. Elaine
Well I finally have a job... just don't have a start date yet. I was supposed to start next Monday the 26th, but that has been postponed. I'm having a great day reading the 9/11 Commission report. I think it should be required reading for all Americans.
Well that's all for now.
Capt. Elaine
Well I'm still unemployed... now they say next week they will decide... I've been hearing 'next week' for about 6 weeks now. The job Joe offered driving a tow boat is starting to look good... that's how bad it's gotten. I've only got about 8 weeks of unemployment left... so if one of the computer jobs doesn't come thru it's tow boating for sure.
Went to dinner at Karen and Ron's this week, their new house is lovely... Karen is such a good cook the dinner was fabulous as well... I got way to drunk on wine... oh well it was fun. She invited us to bring Joey out there when he's here next Saturday. I've GOT to get this house cleaned up a little bit before they come... next week
Finally got my official license from the Coast Guard this week. Wish I could figure out how to put the image here... but even when I turn off all my anti-virus stuff it won't let me do it... argh!!!
Ta ta for now
Capt. Elaine

Well this is the third straight day of rain here in Charleston... I'm ready for blue skies and the heat and humidity to return.
Still no word on either of my job prospects.
Ron turned in his resignation from Tow Boat / US... and actually got 2 days off this week... hum what's up with that? He's out on a tow now however. Joe was funny this afternoon when we went to the office to fix his computer... he's all grins... saying well did you enjoy your days off, did you enjoy no phone calls? Ron said, well there weren't exactly no phone calls but yes I did enjoy having a day for myself.
Gotta cut the grass soon, as with all this rain it's taking off again.
Pizza for dinner tonight I think.
Well ta ta for now
Capt. Elaine

Welcome back... I was born on a Saturday... but with still no word on a job I am not working hard.. or at all. Neither company called this week, since they are both government jobs I guess the day off Friday threw them off.
Watched the Reagan funerals all day yesterday, very sad...but what a great love story between Nancy and the President. She looked very frail and didn't break down until the very end.
Ron was out on a tow all day... missed doing lunch together and he didn't get home until around 4am. He says Joe will 'sell' us the business for $250,000... but that doesn't include any equipment... so that's not much of a deal, and I don't know if it is really something we want to do or not. We haven't actually had time to talk about it yet. He says it includes the 'crew' boat stuff and the environmental...which means we'd need Pelican, Cat, Rib and maybe the Whaler (we do NOT want Reliance it's a pig of a boat). Then we'd need boom and all sorts of other equipment... He and I really need to talk about what is involved and if we want to persue it or not.
Just got a call from John and tow boat... I told him sorry I'm not waking Ron up... find somebody else.
Well that's about it for today....

Well it's about 95 degrees outside now... Ron and I just got back from a late lunch. He was called away to go wash down 'Rib'... Joe Beasenburg actually offered me a job as a tower yesterday... I have no illusions however, he's hoping that if I go to work for him Ron will stay. We dropped off Ron's resume at the Pilots office yesterday. He has to get together some paperwork for his Merchant Mariners License and take it to the Coast Guard before he can even think about that job. Moran is looking for Engineers on their tug boats and he may go talk to them about that job. After the last few months watching whats been happening with Ron... I don't want to be a tower anymore.
No word on either job yet... this shit is driving me CRAZY!!! I need a job... a real job.
Carol went to the court house yesterday and found the papers I needed in about 5 mins. She is mailing them to me, so hopefully I'll have it all together by next week so that I can get my license.
Think I'll go work on the sweater I'm knitting....
Later
Well this is my first try at this..... so here's what's happening today so far....
Got an e-mail from Hall County, they can't find a record of my divorse from Dwayne.... argh... it's the last bit of paperwork I need to get my Captain's license from the Coast Guard. My friend Carol is going to the court house for me to maybe urge them to look harder for it.
Someone at Ron's office stole our 11520 Chart from his chart holder.... I'm FURIOUS about it. We have another copy of it... but it still makes me mad as hell!!!
Only thing worse than a liar, is a theif!
No word yet on the Tallahasse job or the Gwinett Cty job... I need a JOB!!!!
I'm going stir crazy sitting at home... probably why I decided to try this journal thing.
Well ta-ta for now.
